Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have expressed grave concern over harassment and repression on journalists at the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

In a joint statement, BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi and DUJ President Abdus Shahid said, the recent transfer of BSS senior reporter Kazim Reza to Khulna and asking him to report to its district correspondent is disrespectful to a senior reporter.

They said the trend of harassing journalists with different political opinions have been happening since the new government came into power.

They demanded cancellation of the transfer notice to Kazim Reza. They also condemned the suspension of Sajjad Ali Santosh from BSS Bogra office, Fakir Shawkat from Jessore and Mahabubur Rahman from Chittagong and demanded their reinstatement.
