Criminals ransack press club twice in one week, stealing a television, computers and furniture

Narsingdi --- Four journalists including Narsingdi Press Club general secretary Mazharul Parvez Monty were seriously injured when criminals ransacked and looted the club yesterday noon in second such attack in a week.

Witnesses said, a gang led by Nurul Islam, brother of notorious criminal and Raipura sensational four murder case accused Jamal and Obaidul alias "pickpocket" Obu attacked the club. They ransacked offices and looted TV, computers and furniture.

When the journalists obstructed, criminals beat them up and seriously injured club's general secretary Mazharul Parvez Monty. Hearing his cry for help people from nearby areas rushed to the spot and rescued him.

Four journalists injured in the incident have been admitted to Narsingdi district hospital.

Later, assistant superintendent of police Bijoy Boshak and executive magistrate Md Helal Uddin visited the spot.

On August 20, a gang of 20 to 25 criminals led by Nurul Islam attacked and ransacked Narsingdi Press Club.

Club president Habibur Rahman Habib filed a case with Narsingdi Sadar police station against seven people in connection with the incident. The accused in the case got bail yesterday and made the fresh attack on the press club.
